Year 0-1 Hamilton ZOO Trip

The following is a notice was sent out with kids for the zoo trip we will be having on TUESDAY 4th JUNE!!!!

24th May 2013

To begin our big idea of ‘Aroha’ the Year 0-1 team has organised a visit to the Hamilton zoo.  The children will get the chance to see animals in their habitats and learn about how they are taken care of.

The trip will be on Tuesday 4th June.  Our bus will leave school at 9:30am, and we plan to arrive back at school at approx. 1:30pm.
If it is raining in the morning the trip will be postponed to Thursday the 6th of June.

The cost is $9 per child.

Children will need suitable shoes and clothing, a raincoat (if wet), their morning tea, lunch, and a drink bottle.

If you are able to be a parent helper for this trip please indicate on the slip below.  All parent helpers need to have been police vetted, are required to arrange their own transport to the zoo, and will supervise a group of children. Each class has a limit to the number of parent helpers. We are unable to take preschoolers on this trip. The cost of the zoo per parent helper is $5.50.

Regards,
Holly Sattler (Year 0-1 Team Leader)
Jeanette Ward, Chloe Yates, Mary de France and Taylor Kells.

Please complete the slip and return it to the class teacher by 31st May.

Gully Adventure

On Wednesday we went for an adventure walk through the gully...

We walked along the boardwalk and into the gully to see what we could find. We saw lots of birds and different green trees. We might use plants from the gully in our rainbow garden by room 25. Check out some photos we took while we looked through the gully...

Finding the line of symmetry...

Today we were learning to find the line of symmetry in our paint blobs!

First we had to get a piece of paper and fold it in half ready for our paint blobs to go on.

We then put paint in the middle of our paper and squashed the paint together with the paper.

This is what we ended up with...

Current Events Sharing

Current Events Sharing in Room 25...

This term Room 25 will be doing current events sharing. Every child will have a chance to share news about something they have seen or heard in a newspaper, magazine, on TV or Radio that they find interesting.  I will send home an A4 piece of paper in a snap lock bag for them to write on or glue a picture they have found. We will glue all childrens sharing into our class current events book. This will be held on Fridays each week starting week 2 of this term.  Please support your child in completing this sharing task. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
